A Perfect Family Holiday in Japan

A Perfect Family Holiday in Japan

Our family trip to Japan was the perfect mix of adventure, culture, and fun. My wife and I lived there for three snow seasons back when we were just boyfriend and girlfriend, touring all over the country. On a trip to Kyoto after our second season, I proposed under a cherry blossom tree near Fushimi Inari — so coming back with our kids felt extra special.

We were especially excited to return to Niseko, and this time teach the kids to snowboard (they nailed it after just one lesson!). From there, Osaka kept us busy with Universal Studios Japan and the incredible Osaka Aquarium. Kyoto was pure magic again — wandering Arashiyama’s bamboo grove, exploring Kiyomizudera, and catching a glimpse of a geisha in Gion. Fushimi Inari’s endless red gates hit even harder with that memory in mind.

Tokyo gave us that electric city buzz — the chaos of Shibuya Scramble, the calm of Shinjuku Gyoen, and of course, riding the Shinkansen between cities was an experience in itself.

Japan really has it all for a family trip: snow, temples, neon lights, and so much culture packed into every day. We can’t wait to go back!
