Niseko is one of the premier ski destinations in Japan and is a must-visit for anyone looking for a snowboarding adventure. Niseko is renowned for its soft, powdery snow and vast range of slopes, making it an ideal spot for all levels of skill. Beginners will find plenty of beginner runs while experienced snowboarders can challenge themselves with some of the steepest and most exhilarating runs around.
The season at Niseko usually lasts from late November to early May, so you’ll have plenty of time to hit the slopes and enjoy the snowy scenery. It’s also known for being one of the few ski resorts in Japan that stay open late into the night, so you can take full advantage of the long days and make the most of your holiday.
This was our 4th time here (we have lived/worked in Niseko for 3 seasons before) but it was our kids first time.
Universal Studios Japan (USJ) is an incredible amusement park located in Osaka. It is one of the most popular attractions in Japan and provides fun for all ages. With its iconic giant globe and giant arch entrance, USJ is a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the land of the rising sun.

If you’re looking for a unique and fascinating experience in Osaka, then you can’t miss out on the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan. Located in the Tempozan Harbor Village, this aquarium is the largest public aquarium in Japan, with over 30,000 fish from around the world in its 15 different tanks. From rays and sharks to seals and penguins, you can see some of the most incredible sea creatures right in front of you! The aquarium also has a touch pool where you can get up close and personal with some of the smaller animals like starfish, sea cucumbers, and more. Kiyomizudera, or Pure Water Temple, is an ancient Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan. The beautiful temple grounds are filled with cherry blossoms and impressive architecture that makes the area truly breathtaking.
Kiyomizudera dates back to the year 780, when the first structure was built by a Buddhist monk. In 1994, it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, making it a popular spot for tourists.
The temple complex includes a three-story main hall, Nio Gate, and many other structures. Visitors can explore the main hall, which houses an impressive wooden stage at its rear. From the stage, visitors can look out over the city and enjoy stunning views of Kyoto.

But what makes Gion truly special is its geisha culture. Geishas are highly-skilled female performers and entertainers who have been around for centuries. During the day, you may be lucky enough to spot geishas in traditional kimonos making their way from one appointment to another. They move swiftly and gracefully, usually accompanied by a maiko (apprentice geisha) or two.
It is a unique experience to watch a geisha as they go about their daily routine. At night, the geishas perform at tea houses, providing cultural entertainment to guests. Watching a geisha performance is a must-do during your time in Gion. There are plenty of opportunities to experience this unique aspect of Japanese culture while visiting Kyoto.
The Shinkansen, also known as the Bullet Train, is an iconic part of Japanese culture and a must-see experience on any visit to Japan. Taking the Shinkansen is one of the fastest, most efficient, and most reliable ways to travel around the country. Fushimi Inari Shrine, located in Kyoto, is one of the most popular attractions in Japan. The shrine is dedicated to Inari Okami, the god of fertility, agriculture, and business success. The shrine is known for its thousands of vermillion torii gates that line a path leading to the innermost part of the shrine. The torii gates are a stunning sight to behold and make for a beautiful walk through the lush greenery of the forest.
The main hall of Fushimi Inari Shrine houses the statues of Inari Okami and various fox statues, which are believed to be the messengers of the god. At the entrance to the main hall is a donation box, which you can use to make a monetary offering to the shrine if you wish.

In spring Shinjuku Gyoen becomes one of the best places in the city to see cherry blossoms.
