Maddy & Keith - A Big, Joyful Celebration at Olive & Angelo, Brisbane

Some weddings are all about tradition, others are all about the party. Maddy and Keith wanted the second one… a celebration that just happened to include getting married. Safe to say, they absolutely nailed it.

The day started with the girls getting ready at a nearby apartment. Everything was calm, organised, and running smoothly, which always makes for a good start. I spent some time capturing candid moments before Maddy was surprised with a gift from Keith. It completely caught her off guard and was such a beautiful, genuine moment.

We grabbed a few photos with her bridal party, her daughter Mackenzie, then some portraits of Maddy on her own before heading to the venue.

Over at Olive & Angelo, the boys had arrived in style, pulling up in a stretch limo. I grabbed a few relaxed shots of Keith and the crew before it was time for the ceremony to begin.

Guests gathered and the energy started to build as Maddy arrived in a kombi with her bridesmaid and dad. Then things kicked off with one of the more memorable entrances, the flower men led the way, armed with bum bags full of petals, throwing them out over the crowd and getting everyone laughing straight away. Not long after, Maddy made her entrance, walking down the aisle with her son and dad by her side. All eyes were on her, especially Keith’s.

The ceremony was heartfelt, with just the right mix of emotion and laughter. After their vows, first kiss, and signing the certificate, they walked back down the aisle through a sea of bubbles and straight into hugs from their family and friends.

We gathered everyone for a big group photo, followed by family photos, then guests made their way upstairs for cocktail hour. Drinks and canapés were flowing as everyone settled in and enjoyed the afternoon.

I stole Maddy and Keith away for a few quick portraits in the botanical gardens, taking advantage of the soft light as the sun started to drop. A nice quiet moment for the two of them before heading back into the celebrations.

Back at Olive & Angelo, they were welcomed into the reception with cheers and guests waving napkins in the air, which set the tone for the night ahead. Speeches followed, a few before dinner and the couple sharing theirs after, all full of love, laughter, and great stories.

Then came the cake, or more accurately, a dessert spread of fudge, cupcakes, and macarons. Something a little different and very them.

From there, the dancefloor kicked off and it did not take long for it to fill. Guests piled in, the music picked up, and the whole room came alive. Their friends and family really knew how to celebrate, and they did not hold back.

By the time I left, the party was still in full swing, with talk of heading out to keep things going even longer.

Such a memorable day for a beautiful couple, and the perfect way to start the year of weddings.
