Fiona & Daniel at Pioneer Country, Gold Coast wedding venue.

It was a relaxed wedding with family and friends, perfect weather, and from the start there was a really easy feel to the day. Nobody was in a rush and nobody was too worried about spending the whole day in front of the camera, which suits our natural/fun style perfectly.

The day started with the girls getting ready, and there were already plenty of laughs as hair and makeup were finished. Fiona and her bridesmaid popped a bottle of champagne and had a quick cheers before it was time to get dressed. Once the gown was on, her mum helped with the final stages of getting everything done up, and we grabbed some photos of Fiona with her mum and bridesmaid before getting a few classic portraits with the bride & bouquet.

I left in time to catch the boys fixing their ties before making my way over to the chapel. Outside, the couple’s kids were waiting for their mum to arrive, all dressed up and looking very excited about what was about to happen. As soon as the car pulled up, they ran over to greet Fiona as she stepped out, which was a pretty special way to start the next part of the day.

Inside the chapel, the kids led the way down the aisle scattering flower petals, followed by the bridesmaid. Everyone waited as the doors opened and Fiona appeared with her dad, with Daniel doing his best to take it all in from the other end of the chapel. The ceremony was short and sweet, with a good mix of emotional moments and plenty of laughs. They exchanged rings, sealed it with a kiss and were met with a big cheer from everyone before signing the certificate and making it official.

Once the guests had made their way outside, the cheers started again when Fiona and Daniel were announced as Mr and Mrs. They walked through the crowd under a shower of confetti, stopping halfway for a kiss before making their way to the end where they were quickly surrounded by hugs and handshakes. Once things settled down I got everyone together for a big group photo, followed by the family photos and one fun shot with Daniel and his mates.

With all of that done, everyone could finally relax into the afternoon. The guests moved over to the veranda for drinks and grazing platters while Fiona and Daniel got to enjoy some time with everyone. It was a nice change of pace after the ceremony, with people chatting, catching up and settling into the afternoon.

As the sun started to drop, we jumped in the buggy and headed off around the property for some photos. Fiona was keen to get some shots with the cows, which is always a good option at Pioneer Country, and there were plenty of them around. The light was fantastic and we got some of my favourite photos of the day, although we also had a bull to keep a close eye on while we were wandering around.

From there we headed to the top of the hill for some sunset photos with the bridal party. Everyone was pretty relaxed by this stage, with drinks and food appearing as we took a few photos. Daniel then produced a bottle of champagne and gave it a good shake before spraying it everywhere, which resulted in plenty of laughs. The bridal party headed back, we kept Fiona and Daniel for a little longer and gave them some quiet time together for a few more photos before making our way back down the hill.

When we returned to the barn, the guests were waiting and everything was ready for the reception. MC Cory announced Fiona and Daniel to a big cheer and they made their way inside before getting into the speeches. There was a good mix of jokes and heartfelt moments before everyone settled in for dinner.

After dinner it was time for the cake cutting and a shoe game that had everyone giggling. Fiona and Daniel then gave their own speech before finishing things off with a shot for everyone. Half the room went with Baileys and the other half chose tequila, although judging by the reactions from a few people, the tequila shots may have had a little more kick than expected!

The father daughter dance came next, with Daniel adding his own little twist at the end by taking Fiona’s dad by the hand and having a dance with him before eventually sending him back to his wife. It was a funny moment that turned into something really nice, with Fiona and Daniel then having a beautiful moment together before everyone else joined them on the dancefloor and the party kicked off properly.

We finished the night with a sparkler exit, which was a great way to wrap up a relaxed day that had a bit of everything. Fiona and Daniel had the sort of wedding where nobody was taking themselves too seriously, everyone was there to have a good time and the photos could just happen naturally around them.

Congratulations lovers. It was a perfect good day.
